From 2001 to now, Vietnam Coal Corporation formerly and now, Vietnam Coal and Mineral Group has continuosly increased coal exploited and processing output year by year, not only meeting enough requirements of economy, but also export coal with great amount, ensuring balanced finance and developed investment.
However, in recent periods, Vietnam Coal and Mineral Group’s report, will import coal from 2012, concerned by social oppinions.
Production and consumption of coal in past years:
With the target for development stably and consolidately, in past years, Vietnam Coal and Mineral Group has continuosly increased coal exploited and processing output and export year by year. In 2005, clean coal output reached 31.2 million tonnes, until the year 2007, reached 42.2 million tonnes. In 2008, it will expect to reach 43 million tonnes and 44 million tonnes to the year 2010, 45 million tonnes to the year 2015.
Above-said data are striking demostration to affirm its strong development in the market mechanism. With its growth, the oppinions did not understand that why Vietnam Coal and Mineral Group must import coal beggining 2012? In order to make subjects clear, we must find out the electric power requirements in Vietnam, especially, development of coal.
According to calculation, Vietnam Coal and Mineral Group will only supply enough coal for electricity to the year 2011 and from 2012, will import 5.223 million tonnes of coal for production of electricity. |
